Ooo! I discovered Ken Wong earlier in the year; I remember that one.
I, too, have a longtime love of octopi (I tend to say “octopuses” even though I know it’s wrong). Would love to see your collection!
Elizabeth, I can’t resist pointing out that your instincts are actually correct in this case -”octopuses” is more correct than “octopi”, insofar as there is such a thing as “correctness” in language.
Yep, both are considered technically correct, although “octopuses” is considered the preferred nomenclature in standard American English. I must admit to a personal and perverse love for the word “octopi,” though.
